... sellers were doing a roaring trade. You could also buy a cloak to cover yourself from the ticket seller. One lady in particular was hilarious. She had on a dress, just a drawstring wasted thing, with full sleeves, and came to about mid-thigh. I didn't think she looked too bad, but the door police were having none of it... and she kept pulling the dress down to try and reach the two finger limit. At one stage there she actually bent her back down so she was ...

He seemed to like talking to me more because I could knew some Italian and he persisted to talk to me even when the others had moved away, scared by the strangeness of the encounter. ... ski resort hotel La Chaussee right at the foot of the road up o the old town. Good find thanks to Trip Advisor. Hardly any English spoken but nice room with a geat view. Time to explore so up the worlds longest and steepest hill to the old town. Edmund Hillary would have struggled but we made it. (This place is the highest city in Europe) What a nice place. Beautiful town with great views and lovely cobbled stone streets with apparently a lot of history. ...

... academic institutions. The gallery contains a huge collection of Italian paintings as well as a Rembrandt and a Joshua Reynolds. They actually have so many paintings many have to be stored as there is not enough room in the gallery which is huge anyway. There are lots of alter pieces and many religious paintings which begs the question – How many churches are there in Italy and how many don’t have Alter pieces???? LOTS and LOTS.

Our favourite painting was ...
