Baguette nonchalantly sliced into a basket, a splodge of some sort of yellow spreadage on a saucer, a small bowl with some unidentifiable jam was all washed down with either dark brown liquid which masqueraded as coffee, or fairly hot water into which I dropped a tea bag, drunk a la France, out of a bowl. Can we do basic? Yes we can.

... the nice man who checked it in if it was the onward flight to Lifou took a little longer. He eventually came back with the definitive answer: no... it would be a different plane from Noumea to Lifou, so we would have to get off, collect our bag and then re-check it in for the onward flight. Hmmn.
The views out of the plane window of the reef and the little dots of land on the azure sea were superb. Just an extraordinary sight.
