... for my next eight week stay. A turn of events occurred that I didn't foresee happening. While making my way out during my first full day in Austin, I had a whole list of errands to get done. My first stop of the day was at a Subaru dealership to test drive a new 2015 Outback. It took me a little over 14 hours and 3 buses to get from New Orleans, Louisiana to Austin, Texas..via Houston...but luckily for me, waiting to pick me up was my brand new host and future thrift shop hunting, food connoisseur partner in crime, Maryann!

... in the most random way. I ended up getting a box filled of stuff, kind of like a salad box, minus the salad. The place we were staying was nice, a bit out of the centre but it was a million times better than the place in New Orleans and there was a Doberman and cats which was nice & homey. Like New Orleans it's all about the nightlife so we just wandered round the neighbourhood, found a Mexican market to get some normal ...

... for musicians to jam. It also happens to be the place a young waitress (Janice Joplin) got her start. In this place I had to go with the special - Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, Fried Okra and San Antonio Squash. It was fantastic (sorry, no pics - I was starving and it looked too good to snap one) and a real thrill to eat in such a historic music spot.

... this woman, clearly she was some kind of political powerhouse managing the geopolitical landscape and international relations from a hostel in Austin. My bad. There was also an old guy that was very vocal about having proof that the Bill Gates foundation was ethnically cleansing India through the use of a polio vaccination programme...
