We came into town yesterday late afternoon courtesy of our friend Swig and his mom. He lives local to the area so he will be enjoying some time back home and then hop back on trail. His mom was extremely friendly and invited us to their house thus evening to share in their BBQ party in honor ...

The tight camp woke up around 7 with a zest in our eyes. That always happens on town day. Town day gets people motivated. We made short work of the miles til lunch, and then I swear we moved faster still the second half of the day. That got us down to Interstate 5 by late afternoon. Swig lives in the immediate area and had his mom come meet him so he can take a few days off at the house. They were kind enough to give us a ...

We drove up to Mount Shasta all the way until the end of the road. I wasn't sure which trailhead to go to. We started going up a trail for a ways, and it just kept ...

    ... quite pretty.

We made it to the Medford, OR, Costco at 7:30, but the store was already closed, so we couldn’t get the pizza we were wanting there. But the gas pumps were still open. Oregon has a law that the consumer can’t pump their own gas, so all gas stations have attendants that pump your gas for you. After the attendant pumped our gas for us, we asked him where a ...

... lake looked like it was very low on water though. It must be really large with lots of fingers because it was visible from many angles.

We pulled into our sites for the night in a little town called Yreka, CA ( pronounced why-reeka) which was just a short distance from the Oregon border. During set up Nick discovered that his leveling jacks wouldn't lower and his slide outs wouldn't work. They checked and re-checked all they knew to do then finally called ...
