    ... Mt. Shasta including a full blown tour of what's-what and price inquiries at all the promising hotels. We ended up staying at the Alpine Lodge, one if the more hiker priced and quality establishments in town. By the time we checked in and set our bags down it was only 6:30 pm. Plenty of life left on a young night in a new place. And guess what? We were across the street from the local Chinese restaurant! Afterwards we detoured ...

    ... The hike was very pretty, with some parts of walking through rocky volcanic type terrain, and a little bit of forest at the end. I was very tired and struggled to make it there. Just before we got to the meadow, we met a guy on the trail who had been camping/backpacking there. We asked him if the meadow was far and told him we had never been there before. He told us where to go for the best part of the meadow, and told us about a waterfall there.

    ... place was. He recommended Kaleidoscope Pizza, just down the road a bit. That was wonderful pizza! We got a small Peter Griffin Pizza – pepperoni, ground beef, bacon, smoked ham, cheddar, mozzarella and provolone cheese and marinara sauce.
