... for an obligatory photo. A fair way out of our way, but how could we possibly miss it.

Next item on our itinerary was to track down somewhere to sleep, not an easy task. It felt a bit like Nazareth with all the innkeepers saying they had no room to spare. The analogy didn't end there with our eventual location feeling a bit like a stable. We ended up in Ventura for the night at a typical motel shown in every US sitcom. We were worried ...

... and a half drive ahead of us back north to Ventura.

We have a final sixty five miles to drive in order to catch our flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) back to Manchester via Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and London Heathrow. Hopefully our bags will follow us as we head back to cold and grey Britain. It is a bit of a shame to be headed back . . . . . but maybe there will be a cheeky last minute deal to tempt us away from the UK during our planned four weeks at home!

Most people filtered out after a few hours of hugs and catching up. It was a quite a warm welcome for Alex and me having literally just arrived in LA. My cousins Esther, Sarah, and Joel were in town for the bris, which was an extra special treat ( and makes sense since they are ...

... and scented flower boarders. Ok, I know we’re not working at the moment but had to visit the Santa Barbara Courthouse, which, was a lovely old colonial building and had beautiful architecture. They still have trials here and is much more imposing and intimidating than Swansea Crown!! It all seems too nice to still be used as a courthouse. Went up the clock tower for 360 degree views of Santa Barbara and surrounding ...

... all ran around screaming, the poor mutt has to spend the night outside and one of the little toddlers asks if the dog was in 'time out'…
