After the windy stay Gaviota State park today was making my way through Santa Barbara and other towns. It was nice not to have a long ride today only 49 miles. Walk on the beach a warm shower and a cold beer and the day is done. Got chance to catch up on my email at Starbucks, a favorite spot to get some caffiene & check my email. What a surprise to see a blurb about me & my ride in the Adventure Cycling e-newsleter that my wife Nina put in. It made my day but also missing home. ...

... and that I could lay down in the car while the kids skated for a while.

They were having so much fun, it was hard to tell them that we had to go, but at 5:30pm we left for the last part of the drive which is 67.7 miles. But anyone who has ever driven on the 5 or 405 knows good and darn well that it's not likely to be a straight shot. We arrive home in 2 and 1/2 hours and I walked straight up stairs to bed.
