Woken early by someone trying to get into my room. I also begrudge paying $2.99 for wi-fi.

We were also surprised to learn that Peggy had driven here in her 1972 VW camper in which we had last ridden in New Jersey in 1972. This same camper had been to England on the QE2 and travelled much of Europe. It also completed the trip from Vancouver to Mexico every year for about 12 years. In fact ...

... back at Santa Barbara. I had a lovely cheese burger. When we got back to the coach, it had lowered itself so that the door got trapped on the curb as it opened. However it didn't open enough for anyone to squeeze in so Adrian had to jack it up in order to get the door open. It was very funny :-) On the way home we had a party on the bus and finished off by dancing to Macarena. It was great fun. We continued drinking at the bar of the hotel. Our last night on tour ...

... when I braked. Turns out that those noises are going to cost us $1800.00!!!!! New rotars and brake pads is not what I wanted to be spending money on right before our trip. In the grand scheme of things, at least our family is happy, healthy and safe. A car is just a car. A few less alcoholic beverages, bingo games, souvenirs and spa treatments but we will still have the time of our lives ...

... a long walk with our backpacks it was well worth it! As we were walking along a youngish guy ran up behind us, making us think maybe we had dropped something but instead he caught up with us, asked us if we were hitch-hikers and when we replied that we were he got out his wallet and gave us $20, telling us to treat ourselves to a nice dinner! He went on to tell us that he had just hitched all around the states and just wanted to help us out. We were truly amazed at his generosity ...

      ... Delicious. Saturday
night, Ann told me to bring my Kodak, because we went in town. We went on the
top of a mountain and on the top we were able to see all Ventura and a little bite
of Oxnard. It was fabulous! Today I realize that it’s almost the end. I
reserved my youth hostel in L.A. and tried to have a surf lesson. I hope I will be able to surf before I leave!!
