Wednesday evening and we are not quite halfway to the Falklands, having left Montevideo last night. We are also a long way from the argentine coast now. Calm seas and moderate winds and mostly sunny. But getting colder as we move south. Yesterday it was raining in Montevideo but we took a city tour by bus so stayed mostly dry. Nice city - feels very easygoing ...

... that I'd never seen before. The store was nice with a boutique feel. It's actually a consignment store rather than a thrift store; the items are more upscale. Hunter found a darling leather, leopard-print belt for $10. In the back, they have some $5 racks that were fun to look at. We wanted to walk around to see what else was in the area, but there was some construction going on that would've made it difficult.

After all this walking we deserved a break, and we stopped at Salt & Straw, a truly sensational ice cream shop. They did so many things right - they were making waffle cones as we queued, by hand. They brought us any flavours we wanted to taste whilst we queued. And it tasted amazing. We loved it!
We took a quick breather at our hotel and had a sensational dinner at a restaurant recommended by the concierge, called Tasty - and it certainly was!
Since my dad and step-mom recently moved to Portland, this my new official home base...it's about time I check it out. I was actually here for a couple weeks before Vancouver, enjoying some time with my dad, watching my first Super Bowl on US soil in a long time, and overcoming my Saudi-induced pork withdrawals.
