    ... hostel so walked into the down town area to Powell's Book store, the largest book store in the US.

    Then we walked around the Pearl district and tried a few of the different brew pubs, finished off with a great mac'n'cheese at a place just around the corner from the hostel.

    ... and public transportation tickets are available here at the visitor center. After purchasing tickets we boarded a light- rail train which took us through neighborhoods to the lower Southwest Waterfront Terminal. We rode the Portland Arial Tram to Oregon Health Sciences University's Kohler Pavilion where we "took in" the panoramic view of the he city from the observation deck.
