Arrived early and got our pick of sites. We got this one right on the lake. At dusk, the family of skunks would come out to enjoy the fallen crab apples on the tree in our site. The sunsets were gorgeous! We met Puff the Purple Dragon on the beach! Loved the water tower.

Day 6 back on the road

Salina to Mount Vernon, Illinois was a particularly un-newsworthy day. I looked like we’ve used a little bit of oil – that’s not very exciting and I’m not sure what to think of it. Today was a much better day…we're on a fairgrounds lot within walking distance of a Casey’s gas station, there was an easy place to leave Fridman’s car and we’re on level, solid ground.
