    Ghost town (scary)

Today we went to a ghost town. I honestly thought it would be a long row of saloons and houses with tumbleweed scattering around. It was really just a whole lot of gift stores and a couple of museums about the mining. I reckon it was pretty much like arrow town. A boom town from the gold, silver in their case then restored and the Main Street becomes a row of tourist shops then boom, roll in the money from ...

... to Abel. They put us to work reorganizing a lot of the inventory to make it easier to pull items off the shelf for orders and find equipment faster. It was a nice job because it helped us as well, seeing that we are often trying to locate pieces of equipment in the mass chaos of the inventory room. Writing this at 8.30pm LAX Airport Los Angeles.

Today has been a blur. We set off from Morro Bay at around 10am. We drove south towards Los Angeles through the suburb of Malibu passing homes of the rich and famous until we noticed the turn off for Santa Monica Pier. This is the official ending of Route 66. We parked the car and posed for photos at the famous 'End of Route 66' sign. We can't help feeling like ...

... and the TSA rep had to come over to man the podium to check my ID, as nobody was ahead of me at security. After going through security, I entered the airport lobby. This was quite a pleasant surprise; the Hilo airport has a lovely lounge waiting area you can sit in before going upstairs to your plane gate. There are comfortable chairs and couches in a Hawaiian print fabric and carved wood coffee tables. My flight was delayed 20 min, due to late arrival of the aircraft. It ...

    Arrival in LA

A travel blog entry by trevorrose on Aug 09, 2014

We landed in LA just after midday (still Saturday) and were quite quickly through Customs etc., and then thankfully our cases popped out onto the conveyor - quite a worry when you check the bags in at Perth and then don't see them for 35 hours! We caught a shuttle bus over to the Dollar Car Rental depot and were shocked to see 40+ people waiting to rent vehicles! But that was the easy part because after waiting 45 ...
