... was the eye-opener of wandering around the Queen Mary. Queen Elizabeth's style is Art Deco and tries to recapture the spirit of the QE2 and the short-lived original Queen Elizabeth, now a rusting, upturned hulk of a tourist attraction in Hong Kong Harbour. I know that most of the 'wood' on the new Queen Elizabeth is no more than brown plastic, but it's tasteful. It exudes class and draws one in to a bygone era of elegance and sophistication. Apart from me saying “Hello, how are you”, I handed over our passports, boarding passes and completed health surveys. All great-great Granny did was circle “No” on the survey and put it aside. No admonishment for completing it without her witnessing that we actually signed it, no comment what-so-ever !
