Arrived about 11am, and they had a room ready which was great. Lift up to room, which was modern, clean and big, with superking bed and lots of pillows.
Practical bathroom, with plenty of places to hang stuff; good TV, table, chairs, fridge, air con all fine. Window would not open fully which I expect is for security.
We walked from Hollywood / HIghland in about 10 mins, from where you can see Chinese Theatre, view of Hollywood sign, etc and this hotel is only a minute or so off Hollywood Boulevard. Area a bit scruffy, but felt safe enough (sure, the odd homeless, but not many). Stars on floor everywhere, but hand prints only outside Chinese theatre.
Hollywood / Vine about 10 mins in other direction and from here you can get the airport bus to LAX every hour or so for 8$, plus lots of good bars in this direction and off the side streets.
Bus stops from La Brea area and farmers market very close.
Bit noisy at night due to location, but we slept pretty well.
Price was good and free wifi, nothing really to whinge about so 5 it is!

We headed out the next morning for a 1.5 hr pleasant, relaxing scenic drive up into the Grand Canyon South rim. Jeff and I visited the north rim if Grand Canyon in 2011 and based on recommendations of Seat 61 website, decided to do the south rim this time. It is chalk and cheese by comparison. I would always ...
