The 2 cousins and their spouses worked for months, planning food, sleeping arrangements and living arrangements. They built a wood fired hot tub, put in walkways, set up an area for tents, and built a bath house complete with bathtub.
For us this reunion was actually a 2-part event. We had a gathering for our immediate family on Wed/Thurs and then the extended family over the weekend.

It started off as just a 2 lane freeway, but by about 70-80 miles outside of San Francisco that quickly grew to 3, then 4 and in some parts 6 lanes. ... They will try and meet us somewhere on the pier for a drink, but probably closed too. A beautiful day to sit by the pool for our bodies first exposure to the sun. We had our Christmas dinner, shrimp in butter and garlic white wine sauce with spaghetti. Better than any restaurant could deliver! Sat on the beach and watched the sunset, had a nice fire in our fire pit, dunked in the hot tub, read awhile and called it Christmas! Guess we will see the Coopers tomorrow. No ...
A lazy morning start we headed off to the coast still a bit chilly today hoping it will reach 20 by midday.
We drove to the beach at Lompoc only or find out it was closed due to bird nesting season .... it was next to US. Air base fields, all the other beaches are closed because of that air base. So we headed north, to Pismo beach a very long way.
