Judging by the frosty Photo Police I can only surmise that LA is indeed the self-conscious place I first thought it was, where you can take a photo of yourself if you are a model but not if you are not.

After stuffing our faces with unhealthy delicious food (safe to say we may be unrecognisable when we get home) we carried on our merry way.
