When we stayed at the Holiday Inn last night in Chehalis, WA, we saw in the hotel book under sights for the area, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. This was not on our list of things to do but decided it would be a good thing to see. We are so glad we did! It was spectacular sights and very informative. As we stared toward Silverlake we had another bonus - we didn't realize we were in Bigfoot Country! (see ...

Camp #5 We moved camp to Paradise point because out battle ground lake campsite was booked out after Wednesday. We are planning to stay at Paradise Point campsite for a full 7 days so we are definitely excited to stay in one place for more than a few days! We've been to this campsite before and it's not the greatest but it's cheap and close to work... And the freeway. Too bad all of our gear is soaked from battle ground and the move in the rain :( Update: came home from work to ...

We carried on past areas where there’d been landslides and the route remained interesting up to the point where we reached a road closed sign at the top of the hill. This was hugely irritating as it added another 2 hours onto our journey and nowhere had it warned us that this would be the case. We started on our decent back down and decided ...

      ... about living dangerously.

We succeeded with relative ease and celebrated like any of you would: Hitting Denny's for Grand Slam breakfast!

When we got back into the van, we put it all behind us by throwing on the Road Trippin' Pady Style mix—a blend of family favourites and styles from my vinyl collection—to get back in the groove.

... table. We were thinking it might be a perfect little summer retreat for an outing with the granddaughters. Ike Kinswa is a beautiful state park with nice sites, trails, lots of areas to access the water and I am sure that in the summer it is filled with boisterous families, lots of teens, jet skis, boats and floats, very different from the quiet experience we have had. I think there were only three ...
