... the beach, a bit residential and maybe a bit dodgy but will do for our last night. As soon as we are hooked up, sneakers are on and we head for the beach to walk to the pier. It's a beautiful time of day. Fairly quiet where we are but as we get closer to the pier there are heaps more people, surfers, a film crew shooting scenes for something possibly a Korean show. Today we checked out of our hotel and we are on the road to Viva Las Vegas. The scenery is quite unusual .... very dry rocky hills, and the traffic is still horrendous...... Where is everyone going??? Managed to polish of a box of Pringles delicious ;) Me ... I'm an excellent passenger ... hand feeding David, feet up on the dash and typing on the iPad ( I call this multi tasking) ...

... this wine-themed activity was the old Californio town of Paso Robles. We stopped here for much cheaper gas and moved on through more vineyards and up the next, much taller mountain range. As we descended a patchwork of farms and the glint of rooftops appeared. We were in the San Joaquin Valley and it was about 100 degrees, a difference of 41 points. The valley is fed by the California Aquaduct and enjoys quite a rain shadow. I will try golfing for the first time recipe. ...
... and Nevada. Plus two territories in Canada: British Columbia and Alberta. All which totals to 9,000 miles (or 14,000 kilometers) driving – so far.
