It was fascinating with large boulders in places, perhaps placed there when the road was constructed.
Hills of varying sizes as well which surprised me.
Here's me thinking a desert is flat!
Different varieties of cactus growing where not much else can.
Barstow is really a stop over for us, to let Paul relax before the next destination Las Vegas!

Just a little aside here. Thanks to our wonderful son and daughter-in-law for buying us dinner at the Olive Garden here in Bakersfield, Ca.

The police were fantastic and so were the witnesses; another biker in the restaurant and the staff there. We even had a guy come up to us who has a harley dealership in Illinois, to see what he could do to help.
We caught up. Karl, Vicki and Julie who had been sightseeing and they joined us for breakfast.

Yosemite lodge has a totally different feel: very sterile and standoffish. It consists of large cabin/apartment suites that reminded me of a very high end retirement community.
