Another day of a long haul. I just realized that I put 3000 miles on this trip and considering that I left 11 days ago, you know that this chick has been burning some serious rubber. From here on out I want to spend a but more time and I was totally planning on staying here for 2 nights, it's a very cute town, laid back and friendly. I had a bite to eat in a local spot, drove thru town, walked around and went back to the motel... I'm not sure yet what I will do and make up my mind the next da...
Des Moines, Iowa, United States hendrika Fed up with animal crackers I had to leap off the burger wagon last night. Harry and I walked through the drive thru and had a very tasty Hardees "little thickburger".
Frustrating today waiting at the hotel to hear about the car. Unfortunately it has been running fine since it got to the workshop so they can't work out what went wrong, and in the end they recommended that I press on.
Santa collected me from the hotel and took me on a driving tour of Davenport, pointing out all th...

... at things from the WWII era and tried to see what was what in concerns to things Grandpa might have done, medals and badges he earned, and equipment he might have operated. Then it was back to the Interstate Highway. I35 North was closed to a car accident which left 4 dead and 4 injured that required rerouting. I sufficiently slept through Missouri and am now awake writing this in the last 30 miles before I need to ...
Des Moines, Iowa, United States kayaker902... a whole lot else of that meal unfortunately. By the way, Americans LOVE cheese. I swear they have cheese on cheese.
After lunch Amanda headed off and we had to get down to the chapel to help Nate and the groomsmen with final touches. We plugged 'Simpson College' into the GPS and off we went. We hadn't even left the car park and we were trying to overtake a mini-van in a dual lane road when it cut us off. We were a little shocked and still with little experience I hung back ...
... I were moving to a motel while Alicia had to pack for her honeymoon in Madrid. Nate arrived home around midday so he, Alicia, Nate's best mate Chris (who had come up from Indiana) and myself went down to the Indianola Country Club to set a couple of things up for the reception. An hours hard work and the boys headed back while Alicia took me on the grand Indianola tour to get my bearings. I saw Simpson College where Alicia studied as well as Smith Chapel (where Alicia and Nate were to ...
Des Moines, Iowa, United States hoffersI woke up to my first full day in the US; the sun was up and coming in through the blinds. I had not banked on it being 6:30am though. This isn't work and I need sleep people. I also found out Kym is an early riser as she was up and about and battling Alicia's cats to get outside for a smoke.
Kym and I had a chat and started making plans to explore and just as we were getting somewhere in the planning everyone else gets out of bed. And this was before 8:30am! Nate had ...
... middle a gurgling stream is an enclosed bridge (as seen in the movie) stretching across. There are several of the bridges around town, we saw a few but our fav was probably at the town park where they also had a castle like structure and a big garden maze, fun! And to add to the appeal of this town it is also John Waynes birth place. They have the house he was born in ...

... 8217;s finest farmland. The gently rolling landscape is green and beautiful, and its skies fill with gigantic stacks of cumulus clouds unlike any seen in Utah.
Some of the travelers went to the Living History Farms, a 600-acre complex of working farms that preserves the essence of rural life over three centuries. The complex includes a replica of an Ioway Indian village from around 1700; a mid-19th-century pioneer farm; and a modern agricultural operation.

... an area. Tom, the parking attendant, wearing a dirty Vietnam vet trucker cap, directs us to Fong's Pizza, where we will be meeting Billie Greenwood and our host for the night.
We talk to him for a while, as another customer drives in. I couldn't resist, so I took a picture of the white bread snadwich he left on the bumper of a random car. I giggled uncontrollably. Ryan needs to wash some clothes so he does that, I throw my Air Force shirt in there as ...
