... As a boy, I used to be a paper boy, rising early in the morning and riding my bicycle to the local distributor's house where we would roll the papers and stuff them in our paper bags hanging from our handle bars. I remember waiting for the papers to arrive and laying on my back looking up at the sky full of stars. Isn't it interesting what we remember when we ...

Natural energy was evident as we passed hundreds of wind farms high on mountainous bluffs (while we cruised along in the valleys) and on the ground, oil Dereks pumping quietly on their own -barren land not growing anything, but getting energy from the wind, and oil from under the ground. Me and Dad had single Kayaks which are harder work but easier to control on your own. I bloody loved kayaking it was so relaxing but still felt like you were getting some exercise, I would happily do it again tomorrow!! Paddled out to the caves and saw dozens of sealions on ...

Arriving in LA, Jons old univ. friend Jack manages to collect us at the enormous LA airport by car, quite a feat, and off we set for the 2 hr journey on a 10-lane freeway backed by the San Bernardino mountains, lined with Eucalypts, full of cars and we,in the (fast) car pool lane requiring a minimum of 2 per car, and Jack repeats a very funny story cousin Ellen had a guy drives in the carpool lane ...
