No joy with the shippers. Still excuses and stalling us, even though we had reached Baltimore. Could not sit in the hotel all day, so went by shuttle bus to Baltimore Inner Harbour. Drove through campus of the prestigious Johns Hopkins Medical School and hospital. Delicious seafood lunch in restaurant overlooking a rainy harbour.

In the summer of 1813 Mary was asked to make an enormous flag to fly over Fort McHenry.  It took Mary and 7 others working on the flag non stop for 6 weeks before it was finally completed. The flag became a legend after the British tried to attack the fort by night. That morning the flag was still flying and was seen by a young lawyer named Francis Scott Key. This inspired him to write a poem called The Star Spangled Banner. ...
