While in Iowa, why not visit the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library we said to ourselves and we're glad we did. This is my fifth presidential library and I always enjoy learning about these men. President Hoover lead a pretty impressive life before he entered politics. This library complex includes his ancestral home...a 2 room simple home for 5 people...a Quaker meetinghouse, a one room schoolhouse and his burial site. The library itself is pretty large and includes ...

The first full day back at the farm. First we will work on the loft and put up the 700 lb. beam and try to get the floor done. Harvest always comes first so hopefully we can start on a bean field tomorrow. The pictures tell most of the story on todays work. Tomorrow we will prepare the combine and set it up for beans from corn. We hope to start combining by late afternoon. ...

We had built a rest day into the schedule and that's just what we had today. Victor slept in late as all teenagers should do during their summer break. He missed breakfast and kept on going past lunch. I spent the morning outside reading. The swarms of mosquitos that were ready to carry us off into the deep woods yesterday evening had retreated. What last night was my least favorite campsite and sent me to my RV ...

We knew this would be a long travel day and we were right. We drove due west from St. Louis to Kansas City (which is not in Kansas) and then turned north along the Iowa/Nebraska border to reach our current campsite in Iowa for a total of just over 8 hours. We traveled rolling hills in central Missouri and then found ourselves in lovely farmland full of cornfields in west Missouri and Iowa. Our campsite sits along the ...
