We stayed in 2 adjoining rooms that had recently been remodeled. Very clean though tight quarters for more than 2 people per room. Towels were tiny. Nice staff. Clean grounds.

... indeed. With that in mind, the town commissioned a lot of sculptures to be placed throughout the downtown area. The primary theme was that of Dr. Seuss characters. We had a fun afternoon walking around and seeing the sculptures and taking a tour of the Grace Museum. We would recommend a stop in Abilene if you ever get to the Texas ...

As I write this, we've been home for several weeks now. It's been hard to sit down and finish this blog once we got back home - and then had to prepare for going back to Austin again for our youngest daughter's 21 Sep wedding.

By this point in our trip, we were ready to get back to Austin to see the kids and grandkids. Abilene was just a quick overnight stop, and we were on the road again.

Spent the last couple of days in Abilene, TX. Mostly uneventful drive, but we did have to stop a couple of times and fix a piece of weather stripping that was flapping around on the camper.

We arrived in town hungry with no food in the camper (yet again), so we thought we'd go out for dinner. We have a gift card for Olive Garden, and Dean loves ...

There just isn't much to write about while crossing this huge state on I-5. Texas is such a large, flat state. But, I want to record the over-night stop overs so that we can see the distances traveled each day of this unusual adventure. The pictures reflect what we see: the same ! the same ! the same ...

... Lake Abilene, which is part of the park but sits across the county road from the main part, is suffering from the recent drouth and is extremely low. - We rode our mountain bikes around part the lake on the hiking & bike trail. The trail consists of mostly old jeep or gravel roads. Very exposed for the most part. - Park rents kayaks. We saw a few people kayaking out on the red lake water. Weather: hot - high 90’s during the day to mid 70’s at ...
