Well, today was my last official day at Penn State for a while. It was really bittersweet because I had to say my last goodbyes to so many people and friends, and it's especially hard because I'm not sure when our paths' might cross again. I guess that's a part of growing up, right? The next time I'll be ...

Day 343 7 hrs, 10 kms Actual date: April 9, 2015 So my forest adventure begins. There are lots of crisscrossing paths, but it's easy to keep my bearings, as there are electric wires to follow--and the river gorge to my left. fter days of road walking, I'm enjoying the tranquility of the forest... Several small herds of whitetail deer leap gracefully past--and I see my first wild turkey in several ...

I guess sometimes you just need to ...

... War in our 240 years of existence... Let's hope it stays that way for a good long time. It's been threatening to rain all day, and just on cue it starts raining as I reach a nicely sheltered picnic area where I pause to do my Mill Creek Parkbench Concert. Then, once my concert is over, the rain stops! Looks like this is one of those days when everything works out just right for me. Just don't expect it all the ...

Day 342 6 hrs, 12 kms Actual date: April 8, 2015 This is going to to be a long hike from Shirleysburg to Huntingdon without doing any sidetrips. But when I see a trail that says "Thousand Steps Trail" I have to at least check it out. Turns out, this is actually a thousand steps of stone, climbing 1,100 feet (350 meters) which were used by quarry workers to for a grueling climb--so they could start an ...
