... the mountains again. Quite a show.

After lunch we pushed on to Verona where we had front row seats to watch a production of Carmen in the outdoor Roman amphitheatre. The location was fabulous and it was so nice to see the old ruin being put to such a beautiful use unlike the roman amphitheatre in Rome. We had dinner beforehand in the square opposite the amphitheatre and the weather was warm and balmy (not raining here thank goodness). The front row ...

Out of adversity we all agreed that it turned out for the good and we enjoyed the ferry ride on Lake Como in brilliant sunshine, friends for life, unless he misses a ...

... Ancient but from WW2. We will find out more about that tomorrow. A wine in a lovely square then back down the hill for the most delicious meal yet. Set menu, 4 courses and great. Off to bed at about 10, in fact I know it was ten because the Church bells tolled 10 times, twice, on the hour and 5 past. Seemed nice and romantic at first but, ****, all night. Who needs to know it is 2am and 3 am and 4 am. There is one lucky bell ringer still walking around ...
