Fireworks at Motel 6

The rooms at the motel are clean and modern. It has a pool that was so wonderful after our long hot trip today. There was a fresh pot of coffee on this evening in the lobby and the aroma was so wonderful that I had to indulge in a cup. It is the 4 th of July and while we were at the pool, we were treated to a great view of the fireworks going off in the valley below the motel. Very pleased so far.

Today Lynne planned a wonderful ride through the back roads. The ride should have covered about 200 kms, but we got turned around several times and had a real challenge to find the road signs. We were travelling around on country roads so the access ways looked the same as the farm accesses.

I love fruit at the beginning and end of the day. The peaches were perfectly ripe, smelled heavenly and squirted juice all over the place when I ate my first …

While being in the army we have tried to travel to things close by Fort Hood. We found this little slice of heaven one day while driving around. Marble Falls, TX. is beautiful. It's close by the water and has the best diner that I think I have ever really tried. My favorite is their Pecan Pie. I have never had any better pecan pie then ...

... tame of the animals, mainly deer. One thought Dylan's shirt was dinner and tried to eat it off of him. After spending time in the petting zoo, you board an enclosed trailer and head off through the "wilds" of central Texas. We saw many different deer, antelopes, rams, camels, ostrich, one lone bison, zebras, water buffaloes, emus and others I can't remember. One interesting thing, they have several cabins people can rent and stay in the middle of all the animals.

Day hike at Inks Lake State Park

A travel blog entry by pianoman2112 on Jun 29, 2014

Beautiful state park with nice hiking trail along the waters edge. Adam did great for most of the hike and Anna had issues with the proximity to cactus. Both kids reached the end of their hiking stamina before we made it back to the car and it was quite the battle to get them back to ...
