... as promoted heavily by the tourism board, was scenic and interesting for most part, but the man-made Ngong Ping Village was quite disappointing. "Moving your spirit and senses" was apparently not the case- sure, it was "culturally themed", but essentially a soulless tourist hangout to fill their tummies. It was my first time eating Honeymoon Dessert, but it wasn't amazing or particularly tasty.

After visiting the temple we walked to the famous Hong Kong escalator which is really a long travelator running up a hill between shops and residential accommodation. We used the first 4 sections and then walked down through an area of open markets in Old Hong Kong. These sold fresh produce ranging from meat fish and poultry to fruit and vegetables. We then had an hour or so to explore the shops (not Nick’s favourite) but we did manage to find some Colgate ...

I finally found an electrical store that had Simcards, but a young guy serving me that was completely uninterested in serving me at ALL, let-alone in a panicked hurry. 30 minutes later I finally had my Simcard. And got her phone number from a text message. Task two complete!

We complain to reception but all they do is inform us about an emergency repair that should be completed by 1800.......so much for luxury hotel, we've had better service, character and sleep at the hostels in China!
