We Made It

... line. Nothing cute here. Highway 2 is terrible. We decided to look for a place to stay. No camping in this weather. No B and B's, very few motels. I checked the GPS and “Judy” (our personal GPS guide) directed up to a great little motel on Lake Wilson. There is a beautiful lawn going down to the lake. Adirondack chairs to sit in and kayaks to use-if the rain lets up we could stay here a week.---Nels

Maine - Summers 1992-1999

For many years (I'm estimating 1992-1999), I spent my summers in Maine -- either as a family vacation (when I was a girl) or as part of summer camp (when I was a teenager). When I went with my family, we stayed near Acadia National Park. We spent our time hiking and biking. For meals, we ate mostly lobster (whole ...

Day 147 - Look Out For The Loons!

... 16 miles wide, and a little further south than that our route across the state was just 30 miles long. We had planned to spend the night at Umbagog Lake state park, just before the Maine state line, but upon arrival had a change of plan. Not only were we ignored for five minutes while we waited for someone to attend to us, but they wanted $32 for a non-electric pitch, and the "shower block" was a ramshackle looking shed housing at the most two, coin operated showers!

And so on into ...

Hmmmm... foozball?

... summer. Though I do love summer around here and will most likely be spending another next year. Hooray beer! That's right, unless I find a more involved job with the Vermont Lake Monsters I will most likely be serving the beer at the tent, and that will be sweet. Almost, but still I like the Lake Monsters. Everyone there is awesome, including the fans. I am getting pretty fricken nervous for my trip to Ghana. This reminds me I need to email my family, good job Matt ...

Quirky Farm Inn

After the one night stay at the Holiday Inn Express, we drove to Shelburne NEW HAMPSHIRE and not Vermont! We stopped off for a picnic at Montpelier. We found the big old country Inn called Philbrook Farm, which we were due to stay at. It's in a particularly rural setting and is extremely pretty. It’s a bed and breakfast that’s been run by a family for many years, they ...
