    ... New Jersey apparently has the highest concentration of bears in the United States, and I was told many times things like that if I ever saw a bear, it would be in NJ, or that I was almost guaranteed to see one in NJ. But at the moment, I was just happy to be away from the rocks. At least I was until I finished the road walk portion and got back on the trail proper to find the rocks waiting for me. But it was fine: I knew the rocks continued into New Jersey ...

    ... much, making my foot sore in general, and they went very high on my ankle, giving me much less flexibility there and completely changing the way I walked. While the blisters and rubbing diminished as I wore them and broke them in, the other problems only worsened, with my calves getting very tight and sore in a way I hadn't felt since the beginning of the trail, and with my legs just being sorer and getting more tired - and tired earlier - each day.

    ... so much beauty, so much history and just so much to see and do. Gettysburg and Lancaster are places everyone should visit. It is so well worth it, I promise!

    ... are wonderful inns and B&B's. Typical of today there is a spa or wellness centre on every block; only four major blocks here and one traffic light. Everything is housed in restored historic buildings. We walked through neighborhoods, some of my favourite homes I have included. If we had to compare Milford to a place in Canada we would say Niagra-on-the-Lake, but Niagara is so commercialized compared to here. No ...

    We had just enough snow for the kids to make a snowman. In this pic, Vivi had shed her coat, but Payson had only just put his on; they worked up quite a sweat rolling up all the snow in the whole backyard.
