We cross the Qld border and arrive in Toowoomba

... the morning and late in the afternoon- spending the heat of the day resting and enjoying the fan or air-conditioners. The Sizer’s hospitality is second to none and we experienced:

  • Tours all over the property

  • Views of kangaroos and wallabies in plague proportions as well as wild goats

  • Feeding the poddy calf and the chooks

  • Setting nets for yabbies, cooking and ...

Tour 6

Today we went bush walking. Same many great sights, but not a whole lot of wildlife. The group is awesome. Everyone seems to be getting along, and Mark, Andreas, Rudy, and I have really gotten along. Tonight I tried and enjoyed kangaroo.

ROMA

... and it looks really good and safe if anyone out there is interested.

Arrived Roma about 2pm and settled in. We then realised our park is right next door to the local winery, Romaville Winery, and there is even a track from the park to the winery - very convenient. And NO, we definitely did not know this vital piece of information when we booked in.

The nights are still cold, dropping down to about 3 ...

Arriving at Roma

As we write, we are at Wallumbilla Showgrounds, 40 kms East of Roma. We have electricity, water and a country view which costs nothing. We are beginning to settle in to our nomadic way of life. We certainly don't regret selling our house. Our homework has paid off and our stress level has dropped from 10 to 1 on the Richter scale. What we do miss is our friends and hashing with Halfway but the Australian countryside and sights is rewarding enough.

First real night out

Roma Just a Quick trip up North to Roma for the first Day This is our first real day out and we found a nice place at the BIG RIG Caravan Park in Roma and spend the afternoon and next morning exploring Roma and the surrounding areas. We were able to view the cattle sales at Roma (10,500 head) all automated and very hot!

... was $53 for the same type of site, we were more than happy to settle for $31. Everything was so muddy inside the van and we were quickly running out of clean clothes. Dianne cleaned out all of the boys pigeon holes where their clothes and books live, swapped them around (the boys swap beds once a week, just to keep it fair) and tried to get a bit of order in the van again. Craig headed off to the nearby Artesian Spa with the boys and it was hot - just as hot as the ones in ...

Vegetarinasim is cruel (Anders)

I've always thought vegetarians were cruel to animals. The reason is that the number of farm animals 'produced' depends on the demand for meat. Farm animals experience quality of life - they're happy when they get fed, when they get to relax, hang out with their mates and so on - you get the picture. When vegetarians decide not to eat meat the demand ...

Roma

On Saturday I went to Roma for cup-day at the racetrack. It's a bout four and a half hour from where I'm at now. Racing seem to bee very important and popular in Australia. It was estimated that there were about 8-10 000 at the court that day, and everyone is dressed up with hats, highheels and skirts or dresses, the men shirt and tie. There was even an fashion competition for the women with the nicest outfit! First race started at 1315, and there was a horse after ...

GO WEST

... gerammt.
