  • From TCU we traveled 205 miles to the University of Oklahoma
  • since it was a short drive we took the tour of the university the same day.
  • I really enjoyed the rich history the university had. I love watching the BOZ.
  • They provided us lunch as usual and then I sold my socks. it was a rough day.. only made $40.
  • For dinner I ate Panda express. I spent $8.22 on some delicious orange chicken and fried ...

... I found the Jackson hall, and here there was some activity as cars were arriving. I took my picture of the front and then introduced myself, the brothers were happy to have a quick chat but other matters were pressing. And for me the weather was closing in, but I'd got my photo of the hall:



I saw no halls in either Mississippi or Louisiana the next day, but when I turned onto a backroad in Texas ...

... The lake is of course man made by the Army Corp of Engineers. It is reddish-gray color due the soil being so red.

Yikes!!! Tornado warning last night. They have sirens set up in park and we were informed by the park ranger if a tornado is coming the sirens will sound and we would definitely hear them! She said to go to the nearest bathhouse ...

... Lake State Park, and drove around, through abandoned communities and got to the bottom ---the lake was DRY. BUT, after going back up to the plateau, wandering around some more we found the most incredible spot, overlooking the lake, beautifully designed camping spots......only on minor problem...the wind was blowing 40-50 miles an hour, which meant we would have been hunkered down in the RV. Screw that.

Destination Norman, Oklahoma Lake Thunderbird State Park. We skirted Oklahoma City which was nice. Traffic seemed very light for a big city. Took some turns off to get fuel and the long way to the lake.

Spent an hour at the dirty, dirty lake with the kids. I think swimming renewed their spirits. Although Rylynn increasingly getting sinus symptoms. Dry cough, headache, now she can't hear out of one ear all from the first day.
