On Long Island Beach, there is one main North-South road. In the height of "season" the traffic is very heavy from early in the day 'til late. It wasn't bad today. All the stores are having end of season sales.
We move down to Maryland tomorrow. See you there!!

I think there are just better (and cheaper) ways to do it! in light of set backs a couple of days ago one casino had a Hooters, but I only clocked this on my way out of town, and wasn't hungry at the time. Atlantic City with Susy and family. Left early and drive 2 hours. Had lunch at a burger place while the family had Panda Express. Lay by the beach for a while. Had a quick swim. Played kick the ball with the kids. Walked along the boardwalk. Had funnel cake. Waaay too sugary! Had pizza slice and chicken parma with pasta and salad and baked potatoes. Drove back around 8. Had ice cream sandwich on the way ...

So we packed up the little day pack (that we use for the beach) with fresh cherries, sandwiches, drinks, etc., and Luke donned his Camelback water pack (which he loves) and we headed down the 1.8 mile Batsto Lake loop. It really was a nice hike. Not too long or too short, relatively cool amidst the trees, with fresh forest smells. No bugs (or very few). ...

REI 3.5 Self-Inflating Pad ($120)
Initial Opinion - Gwen and I tried this in the store and really liked it. I also inflated one (actually it inflated itself...in about 15 minutes) in the house and Luke and I tried it. They are very comfortable in the store and house, but we'll see how they fare on rough ground at the campsites.
