... we could get some Sudafed and he told us where to go. We walked there and got cough drops and something like Sudafed. He took it with mineral water from the springs here. It is 4000 year old water and is supposed to be good for you. I thought it tasted yucky! Then we walked to Patsy's Candy Store and Larry and I got ice cream for our lunch. Derek wasn't hungry. We made it to our first official destination about 7:00 that evening. The owners of the Dillon Motel were simply wonderful. What the Dillon suffers from age is more than made up for in charm and cleanliness. I chose the Dillon because of good reviews on TripAdvisor. They were certainly spot on!

... noticed there was a team roper from Grand Junction, Travis Bounds. He also saw two bull riders from Fruita. We took the opportunity to call Leslie's dad. He knew Travis but he did not know either of the other two.

We thought the rodeo was well done and fast paced. Even though the seating was a little tight, we all enjoyed the event.

We drove home via a quick stop at the Taco Bell drive-thru ...

Our day started at the Garden of the Gods. This is a free city park, with magnificent red sandstone rock formations. The area is lush and green, and has an abundance of wildlife. There are many hiking trails and it would be easy to spend a day there as it is very peaceful. Unfortunately we only had time for a drive around, but we did see a deer and several different birds.
