02 December Drove south from Kuratau in lots of rainshowers, and of course it was blowing a hooley in Wellington. The Mana Motel people remembered us and we moved all our stuff into a familiar unit. Spent the afternoon and evening with family in Whitby 03 December Ran some errands in Porirua then headed into town to meet my brother at Weta Workshops. We had a look through a small part of the operation, with most of it not open to visitors. Fascinating creations everywhere, especially his big ...

... out. She was the only sober one who witnessed what happened so she spent the majority of the night in the police station retelling what happened. We figure the girl that cracked glass on the other girl's head will have an assault charge that will be pretty serious. We got home around 4:30 am, which made for a very long and crazy night.
Saturday was a day of rest and then Liz and I went in for another late night bar shift at the same restaurant. This time, we got to bartend and we ...

Dzisiaj tylko krótka notka z naszego wypadu w ostatni weekend. Zrobiliśmy sobie polski dzień najpierw odwiedzając uroczystości upamiętniające 65-tą rocznicę przybycia polskich dzieci do Nowej Zelandii (tzw. dzieci z Pahiatua - kliknij w link), zeby później zjeść obiad w jedynej polskiej restauracji w Nowej Zelandii - Cafe Topór.

We spent most of Wednesday having a look around Wellington. We took a tram ride up to the view point above the city and walked back down through the botanical gardens and cemetery. We then headed over to the houses of parliament where we did a one hour guided tour before going into the gallery for 20 minutes to watch one of ...
... his wife and feeding his kid in the cafe-was abit bizzare but was class to see.
We then did some quick shopping before heading to the main attraction in Wellington which is a musuem. Now we hate museums really but this was different-it was recommended to us by a few people. Its a free museum that has about 6 levels-its really cool. We had about 2 hours there but needed at least double that in the end. It was an interactive museum where you could try out ...
We arrived in the capital of New Zealand late at night, so didn't get to do anything on our first day, other than check out the nearest bar.
Wellington is known as the windy capital, and by god they got the name right. It was bloody freezing! We spent two days exploring the city. To be honest there really wasn't much to see. It was just another city, without many shops ...
... ist ein nat. Feiertag...Anzac Day. LG Silvi
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand silvi1101... hours and still missed some of the floors. My favorite part was seeing the Colossal Squid. Te Papa is the only museum in the world with a giant squid on display. Sadly, it is dead, because it got caught in a fishing net, but it is so wild looking. This one was a female and is was four meters long, which is quite small for a giant squid. Her eye was the size of a soccer ball and she has a sharp beak for a mouth and hooks on its tentacles. I would ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand zolab... over gravel paths to what was advertised as a pub and restaurant. I guess it was but what we found was more like a big hall with loads of plastic tables and chairs and a bar at one end and us the only customers, but boy did the cold beer taste good! We split what was meant to be a large cheese and onion toastie for lunch (don't think they had any fresh bread there and only dried tomatoes if we wanted them) and it turned out to be four rounds of white bread ...
Waikawa, South Island, New Zealand maxnstan... yellow eyed penguins on the beach. We are getting to be experts at spotting them. From afar, I saw the white belly, along the bottom of the cliffs. By the time we made our way over to him, he had disappeared. We also amused ourselves taking pictures of the seaweed, or kelp or whatever the sea plant was. It moved lazily whenever the waves came in and was a pretty yellow color.
