The end of our lovely visit! In order to save a little time this morning we packed up as much as we could yesterday afternoon, so that all we had to do after breakfast was disconnect the power and hitch up the car and we were off. ... with antique toys, phones, glasses etc. a real treasure trove. Attached to it was a little pressie shop filled with candles, bath smells and cards. If you ask me it's every woman's dream shop. Coffee and delicious cake followed spending to much on a candle. I managed to get away with spending nothing as beano demanded a poo and toilets were outside. And so off up the freeway we went. Dark skies, lots of wind, rain on and off. My first experience doing any sort of distance at open road speeds on my bike. Two things become immediately obvious - you can't see the speedo or the tacho without your chin on the tank, and a cruising speed of 110kph puts the bike at 5,000rpm...in the flat spot. ... Gap in the Grampians, on our way to Stawell. This was just what we needed as it had rained there and all the leaves were glistening as we drove through. The scenery, with the ruggedness of the Grampians, the beautiful fern gullies and the charred trunks of trees, burnt in past bushfires, making a stark contrast with the green bush. After stopping to view McKenzie Falls, we headed into Halls Gap for coffee, then onto Stawell.
