      ... as I know that noise. It went on a long while then off it went again, then I had it - popcorn machine!       Cumulative miles driven: 3,078

      The drive from San Antonio in Texas to Roswell, New Mexico was 590 miles of which the first 312 miles were on Interstate 10 (or I-10). Leaving San Antonio on five and six lane highways this gave way to a fairly standard dual carriageway road after around 15 miles of urbanisation, so with the sat nav showing 'next turn' off I-10 in over 290 miles it was time to employ cruise control set at 80mph ...

      ... miles up and 4 miles down so it was actually way more steep then the one in Big Bend. Although it was quite difficult, not having hiked the day before went a long way in having much more energy. We kept thinking we were getting to the top of the mountain but we would go around a bend and see another higher peak in front of us.
