Today was cool and breezy. Kurt and I wandered all over the Venice Boardwalk & spent some time just chillaxin on the beach. Did a little shopping, had some lunch, then home for a nap before the boys set out for the Santa Monica Pier to celebrate NYE. I had planned to go along, but woke up with a migraine so I stayed in. No worries - more time to rest up for tomorrow's Parade of Roses!!!!! Goodbye 2014 - you were not exceptionally kind. I hope 2015 is a much better ...

... line as we are leaving. So glad Kathy insisted we leave early for the airport. We run to our gate, and I realize we have time to hit the lounge...so with my stomach requesting food, and despite Kathy's concerns about timing, we headed to the lounge...which took us a bit of time to find. The Virgin Australia lounge is under renovations, so we were directed to the Air New Zealand lounge, and then to the Elihad lounge where we finally were able to ...

Alarm went off, but Andy slept on while I packed and got ready to leave. I forced him out of his pit about 8am. We had our breakfast cereal before setting off again down Route 66 towards Los Angeles. We followed the whole route thru Rialto, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, San Dimas, irwindale, Azusa, Monrovia, Arcadia and then got lost at a fork junction cos we took the left side instead of the right thru to Pasadena and the down To Los Angreles. We turned down sunset boulevard at ...

... to experience some rides, so we go down to the lower Lot where they all are. Before we get there, I get a pic with a very hot guy who is wearing stilts, although for my photos he crouches down. We try out "The Mummy" ride (another movie Paul has not seen) and it is a roller coaster almost entirely in the dark- scary but fun! Next is the Jurassic Park ride and they do warn you that you will get wet. It's pretty tame right up to the end where you are going to be attacked by ...

... Shane got his photo :) Back to the bus to check out downtown LA, including the oldest street. We got off the bus again and took a short stroll, it has a very heavy Mexican feel :) lots of sombreros and those Mexican wrestling masks. We headed towards union station and took a few outside pics. We got back on the bus and got taken back to our hotel. Exhausted after a huge day we actually skipped dinner...booked tickets for our next day at Universal and went to sleep! ...
