... as you can imagine - not the best feeling in the world. There was no overhead storage space so we had to have our bags by our feet. This wasn't so much a problem for Dais but I had a huge holdall to shove down. The flight from Hawaii to LA was only five and a half hours and there was turbulence most of the way and most of the way we slept. On to the plane, down to LA and here we are in California... the adventure begins...
Once checked in to room 1011, we found ourselves learning about "boutique hotel" thinking. A small desk, no closet, seven wooden coat hangars, two faux leather cardboard box/baskets (no dresser) and a single luggage rack. How to unpack four suitcases with three weeks of supplies? First step, order more coat hangars ...

... just off Hollywood Boulevard. The 'drive-in' (it's also a diner) has a totally 1950's theme, complete with a large juke box and mini juke boxes at all the booths. The booths are decked out very authentic 1950's style and there is a soda bar in the centre of the restaurant. Boy was I in love with this place!!! "Why don't we have anything like this in Melbourne"? I moaned to Paul. I felt as though I was in an episode of American Graffiti, and as coincidence ...

... as well, but well, it's hard to stop people from traveling. For many it's the highlight of the year :)
But another thing that HAS to be mentioned now: I only watched two movies and sorted through pictures for a while to clear up space on my memory card. And then I SLEPT! I think I slept for over 2h, which is super unusual for me. Usually I NEVER EVER sleep in planes. This was a first :)
