Originally we were going to go to Jackpot, NV, but decided to push into Wells, NV, about another 60 miles down the road on our way to Lake Tahoe.

The campground is easy in and out. We made blue berry pancakes, showered, worked on the blog and crashed.

... town. Most of "downtown" is boarded up. Its all very depressing. We chose to stay at the Motel 6 for the night. We're just off the freeway exit and the place isn't too bad. The cool part is that our room faces the UP mainline. Just sitting here at our table I can watch trains speed by. I think we're looking at the eastbound trains. Tomorrow we'll head out across the Great Salt Desert and through Salt Lake City. ...

Our travel across the California Sierra mountains and the Nevada desert. We had hoped to get as far as Wendover,Utah on our first day but...when we stopped for gas in Elko, NV I used my I-phone to search for a place to stay. ... which is exactly what we wanted, but Duane, cow boss Len & his wife Mary-Lyn ( an excellent horsewoman ), & 71 ranch manager Federico, plus the whole team here have really been fantastic.
Our last day has been both hillariously funny & achingly sad.
Morning ride for the last time, out over open countryside, seeing coyotes, jack rabbits, red tailed kites, herons, & of course losts of cows.

... amp; Kathy, Hope all horses are behaving, & staying where they've been put. I know it.s been wet & miserable over there, so hope the ground holds up till I get back.
