... of these places means some interesting rides on back roads, mostly dirt...unlike the southwest, there are very few petroglyph sites here - I could only find two, this being one of them. Robin was not impressed and after we visited asked me if I had researched the site, wondering if it was even genuine. He said the symbols were just a little too "on the nose" - too easy to identify what we were looking at. ...

A conveniently placed ice cream place at 105miles was too tempting plus the skies cleared so was definitely a sign.
Lots of tar from the roads so spent quite a while cleaning the bike.Its not all milkshakes.... Pizza for din dins (Dick ate 2 pizzas) then off to bed zzz
Got a little bit of a late start this morning but had a good time at Fort Ancient looking at the ruins of an ancient community. Lots of earthworks visible all around the region, two calendar mounds that marked the summer and winter solstices. Very good museum that went way past how the Paleo-Indians would have lived, although it gave lots of information about that as well. Moved into the wars with France and the British colonists as well, and spoke of some small communities ...
... lots of treasures we hadn't seen in other antique malls and Robin and I both came away with a treasure. Robin with a large (heavy!) owl figurine made from ebony wood and I with a small Steiff tiger...lots of different Steiff animals other than just teddy bears - I may have to start collecting!!

Noticed a sign about the display case of pipes that talked about the fact that the Native Americans would be looking directly into the face of the animal while smoking the pipe. Then noticed that one of the pipes in the case had the animal facing at a 90 ...
