Visit to Martin Van Buren's Home: Lindenwald

This was our first tour of the day. It was chilly so the park ranger let us stay in the ranger office until the tour started. I had never been to President Van Buren's home before and I was impressed by the restoration, attention to details and all the information given by our guide. Emma and I had ...

After our tour of Lindenwald, Martin Van Buren's home, we continued south to Olana, the home of Frederic Church of the Hudson River School of painters. It was rather cold and blustery so we sought refuge in the museum/office where I ran into Adrienne and Sharon of the Red Rock Circle. Vesna had tentatively ...

We were welcomed with beautiful color, muted by the rains, yet nothing like we have seen before. I shot some iPhone photos which are below. We looked for possible campsite but everything was shut down for RV's like us.

We continued south along Hwy 7 then crossed over Into eastern upstate New York to catch the Taconic Trail just ...

This morning we explored the area of Boston known as Beacon Hill. It is an area with lots of narrower streets with traditional gas lamps (now electrified). We had a great breakfast on Charles Street at a place called Paramount. I had Huervos Rancheros which was awesome (read with american accent). This place just got it right and had a massive queue out the door. What I liked most was the strict seat enforcement policy. There was a big sign saying that you are not allowed to sit until ...

      "Massachusets" Bee Gees

... The road winds through forested hills and the Fall foliage was just beginning to show its mettle. There are scenic lookouts at various spots and we sampled the Hairpin Turn and climbed to Whitcomb Summit (in the car, I might add). The scenery was stunning and we enjoyed a brief picnic in the warm sun. Then back into North Adams before climbing up to the highest point in Massachusets, Mt Greylock (almost 4000 ft up), with views ...
