Labour Day Monday so off to the beach for the weekend. Saturday morning up bright and early 6am, think it will take about 3hours We stopped of at Apsley falls on the way, Mat nearly stepped on a echidna walking down the steps he's never ran so fast hahaha So we hit the forest and had been warned that it got very windy........ ... Lona is busy at the stove preparing tonights feast, and I am about to go upstairs and read a book Lona has read and recommended, might even dose, never know your luck!!
Next blog will hopefully be from Georgetown after we successfully negotiate the final 240 k's of what will have been a total journey of 6,500 k's, (About 4,000 miles for the northern hemisphere lot) That could have probably got us to Greece and back from England.
... the tourist info place which was 5 km past town. (Great planning to place it on the way out), and the lady was busy with some one.
Waited a while, then decided the weather is poor and the place depressing. We have been ignored long enough so now it is time to move on. It is ideal driving weather, so decided to continue on to Port Macquarie. There you go, horses for courses. Days for resting and soaking up sunshine, and others for foot on the pedal and go go go.
... it didn’t look like it was going to be too much trouble. Christ, I made that sound far more exciting than it actually was. Chris was still up for fishing so all 3 of us headed down to a big lake near the hostel to try our luck. The lovely crimson purple dusk was descending over the town as we sat with our legs dangling over the pier and the stars began to emblazon themselves in the dark canvas of the night sky. Chris got a good few bites but unfortunately his attempts ...
... meanwhile the sun was high!
I came back the same way, and around the evening was back in the centre. I did not get back to the hostel immediately, I was advised to wait until dusk, and see the bats fly out.
Oh that was soo impressive! They flew high so my zoom was not efficient, they were like everywhere! During 20 min the came and came, flying, completely silent, all these `flying foxes' together going to the ocean! A very special moment. A very beautiful ...
