... down into a very steep valley. I was glad when we reached the bottom.

We stopped at a little outdoor restaurant in Lee Vining, CA for lunch and decided how far we wanted to drive for the day. John is worn out with mountain driving, but he decided to drive the extra 2 hours up to Lake Tahoe. It was a nice drive through national forests and ranch land. The casinos offer some top notch entertainment. ...

With Yosemite too far away we decided to head south anyway, climbing up a twisty road into Nevada, towards Brodie National Historical Park. Three miles before the park the Tarmac gave way to a bumpy track, so I was grateful for the 4-wheel drive. We climbed up further to over 8,000 feet; rolling hills and scrubland everywhere. In the distance, to the south, we could see ...

... hanging by the ceilings and animal heads mounted on the walls and lots of cool atmosphere all around. We mailed postcards to everyone we know named Carson (Ryan’s friend and Libby’s friend’s dog) and hit the hay, preparing for the drive through Lake Tahoe and then over to San Francisco on Friday!
