    Left Gavin's around 10.30am. So hard to leave. Gas in Minden. Spent hours in Historic Virginia City. Wish I could post pics on this iPhone cause words don't do it justice. Found a Best Western in Fernley and stayed there a night Bought another gps from Walmart as the other one wasn't recognizing towns. Long drive Wed morn 8 hours solid driving thru countryside that hardly changes Hope to stay in Salt Lake City tonight. Can someone please comment on this if they are getting ...

    ... ones I don't remember the name of. He was a very interesting guy to talk to and get information from, but as time went on I began to get the feeling that his hunger for adventure could not be satisfied. That his adventures were about getting to the final destination and not the journey. While I respect him greatly I can't help but hope those traits never rub off on me. He was moving so fast I probably will never see him again.

    ... lake I have ever seen. It is a wondrous sight to behold. We are surrounded by snowy peaks and endless trees although the ground remains incredibly sandy. I really expected to see soil up here. I've longed for some real dirt under my feet! I voiced this to a fellow higher who is from the area and all he said was, "Welcome to DG." I later learned that DG stands for decomposed granite. Womp womp.

    Leaving the coast we are heading east. Through Sonoma and Nappa Valleys with a quick glimpse at Scaremento from the freeway.

    We are going to Tahoe and are hoping that the fire currently burning in Yosemite are not cause too many problems. Arriving at Camp Ric******* there is just time to set up camp and head out to the viewpoint to see the lake.
