... Fort Scratchley. As you’d expect, Fort Scratchley is mounted up on a hill overlooking the harbor. There are nice views for all 360 degrees. Unfortunately the fort was closed, so we don’t know it’s official history. It was probably built to fend off the Russians during the Crimean War in the 1800s. Isn’t it odd to think that Russia was a threat to Australia in those days.
