Our plan was to take Jalen to see fireworks at Heavenly village on NYE but we cut the trip short and left NYE because of the horrible weather. It is way to cold, highs of 18. Jalen played a few minutes in the snow but not long because his face turned red. He really did enjoy the snow and kicking it and throwing it. He will have a blast in ...

The California side was full of ski resorts. The Nevada side had two casinos, which were not legal in California. It is really quite crazy to have a place like this that can draw a crowd year round. In the winter, it is a ski resort and in the summer it is a haven for beach lovers ...

We went for a walk to get some groceries & scout out the takeaway restaurants & for the boys to arrange ski hire & lift tickets. No skiing tomorrow as was planned as it is too windy & I think they are both mega tired..so it'll be a nice rest day tomorrow ...

      7. Proper footwear (hikers and water sandals) is a necessity in this part of the world. Sneakers and flip flops will make for sore legs and blisters.

      8. When traveling with four teens/pre-teens, plan to eat at least every hour - kids are constantly hungry, especially when they are constantly active.

... and the town. We ate a light lunch at the Tamarack Lodge, busy with summer tourists then met up with Steve for a short chat. Never really being at a ski resort, the ski runs were quite unimpressive without snow, littered with downed trees that would become invisible under tens of feet of powder. I’m sure it would look like a different wonderland in winter, but I will admire it in pictures only! We lost a bit of money ...
