... north just across the Massachusetts border through Bennington Vermont. Just before we got to this village, we stopped at the trailhead for the Appalachian trail. Then we took a short half hour round trip on the trail to say we hiked it in Vermont! New York was a frustrating state to find anything except Service Islands. We didn't find ...

It's very woodsy, and people are friendly. Camp was on the Presque Isle at a very ridiculously busy campground. They must get a lot of cyclists. The worker charged us $15, and told us we could lock our bikes up to the shack on the beach. I sluggishly carved a giant trench in the soft sand ...

    Day 10

... a lot more enjoyable than the rides we'd had before through Pensilvania further down the state. As we'd set off late today we had trouble deciding where to stay as we were running out of sunlight. Free grabbing some food for dinner at a supermarket, we lucked out and found a secluded clearing by the lake that was perfect for camping overnight. It was dark by the time we finished setting up and ate so just got a decent nights sleep for the day ...
