... miles from any towns and every few miles you would come across a hitch hiker. We were in the Arizona Desert it was 3.00pm, 97F and no shade anywhere. These people must have a death wish. They did all appear to be Navajo and perhaps there was always another tribe member that would pick them up. We certainly weren't going to stop, I've seen the movie 'The Hills have Eyes' and others.

On to the Grand Canyon tomorrow.

We leave the Antelope Canyon and I'm so happy with the pics I've gotten. We will try and get to the lower Antelope Canyon tomorrow on our way out if weather permits.

Lunch today is at a Big Johns a Texan BBQ place (as recommended by Bill). We share a pulled pork sandwich and a garden salad with roasted chicken. Hinesh also gets a frozen lemonade and experiences the biggest ice ...

... most businesses - including the campground where we are staying are owned and operated by Navajo people. The campground is nestled in a valley between two tall sandstone buttes.
The drive in was very scenic with landscape that is dotted with vast buttes. The valley is divided into two states; Utah and Arizona. We had fun with the kids while driving around crossing the state lines.

From our magical camp on the North Rim we headed via forestry roads north before hitting the highway and cruising into Kanab across the state line in Utah.

We turned onto Scenic Byway 12 - one of the few designated 'Scenic Byways' and 'All Amercian Roads' in the USA. It should be driven for its complete length - we've done it a couple of times now and it is fabulous - possibly even better than the Bear Tooth Highway, ...


This motel, located on 750 S. Navajo Dr., Page, is near Rainbow Bridge National Monument and Navajo Mountain.
