... designated a National Monument. Our boat trip started at the marina near our campground and then we traveled 2 hours east through the previous Glen Canyon and over the historic path of the Colorado River which was 300 feet below the hull of the boat. The Glen Canyon Dam was built in the 1960's, filling the natural canyon and creating the lake. It took 20 years for the water behind the dam to create the current lake outline. Driving from Four Corners Monument the temperature got hotter and hotter. We first visit the Glen Canyon Dam area. We have stopped here for one night on our way to Lake Powell. We have driven through Monument Valley and you can see why they filmed all the Western Movies here. The colours of the rocks are a deep red when the sun hits them the right way. This park is an entire resort with a hotel, camping, tours and store. It really is one stop shopping. The park itself is tight and full but it is only one night. You ...

... sitting on the table. At first we were leaving the shells on the table as we ate, but the waiter told us ‘this is a texas bbq, you throw the shells on the ground!’, so that’s what we did, we cracked the peanut shells and threw them on the ground – a new experience for us! We shared a tasting plate of smoked brisket, smoked pulled pork, a spicy sausage and 2 smoked ribs. A true Texas BBQ meal. The flavours were good and we ...
