    ... motel just a few hours from my parent's place in South Carolina, where I will be tomorrow.

    I took a bunch of pictures and I have some video as well. I'll be working on processing the video tonight but I probably won't post it on this travel blog site as they compress the hell out of video and it ends up being extremely low quality, but I'll try to post links or something to my Youtube channel.

    ... Belle Meade would attract thousands of punters to its annual yearling sales. By 1860, Belle Meade had grown to over 3500 acres with 136 enslaved people working for Harding and his family. Today the Belle Meade Plantation consists of 30 remaining acres and features a winery, visitor's centre, original outbuildings including the Harding cabin, dairy, carriage house, stable, mausoleum and a reconstructed slave quarters.     ... station and the Southern drawl is pretty hardcore. We were just nodding and smiling as he was telling us about 'Nayyshville'. Hearing the constant country tunes in the taxi made us realise we were definitely not in NYC anymore. Big update tomorrow post awards and bars with live music. Life is good!

    ... the Walk. The food was great. Barbara had catfish, and I had a New York steak. Amazing flavor.

    But I wondered about the name, as I have never heard the phrase. According to UsingEnglish.com, the idiom “cock of the walk” is defined as “A man who is excessively confident and thinks he's better than other people is the cock of the walk.”
