... After the excellent mechanics at Camping World repaired Chris’ hitch, we returned to Tom Sawyer where Chris was able to successfully hitch up and we headed out three hours behind schedule.
Someone forgot to tell the highway department of Tennessee that I-40 was supposed to be a torture test for the vehicles using it. The drive was an absolute pleasure, with smooth pavement. I ended up detouring south around Nashville on I-840 to avoid ...

Looking back...and back in one piece

... Redwoods and San Diego. We also didn't get to see Portland at all. The west coast is very different than the east coast, both in geography and in attitude. Oregonians seem much more laid back than those in CA, but maybe it helps that there are a lot fewer people up there than in CA. Too many people in one place tends to make for grumpy encounters. However, when we sat and talked with people, we made some really nice connections.
