Historical Traveler Reviews Kira-Mar Waterfront Villas & Docks Fort Lauderdale

      Awesome,Great find!

      from

What a nice surprise! Great Management, very clean quiet spot. Nice pool to enjoy your continental breakfast.

Would go back and stay at the resort for a week.

      Great Stay at Kira Mar!

      from

Our family stayed at the Kira Mar Villas from 21 -24 January 2007, while I attended a nearby conference. Nice room - very clean and comfortable. Owners were very friendly and accomodating. Kids loved the pool. Nice quiet getaway near Las Olas shopping and not far from the beach. We will stay again when in Fort Lauderdale.

      Working Vacation

      from

We have been vacationing in the Las Olas waterways for many years now and our normal spot did not have any vacancies due to the short notice of my trip. As I searched the internet for an alternate I found Kira-Mar :) I was absolutly pleased with the ammenities and with the friendliness of the staff, Nathalie and Reggie. It is such a cute and charming site that is convienient to Las Olas, the beach and with this being a working vacation it is also close to the interstate 95. I could not have been more pleased and wil definitely return in the future.

      Thanks for everything,

There is really nothing we could say in the negative about the Kira-Mar. It was a wonderful boutique style hotel with friendly and helpful management. The location is excellent being only a short walk to Las Olas Boulevard and a 15 minute walk to the beach, or catch the Sun Trolley. It is small and a good place to meet new friends or be on your own just to enjoy the quiet solitude of the lovely pool area which has comfortable lounges, a waterfall in the pool, flowers on the patio tables and floats in the pool, or overlook the beautiful boat docks and read or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. My husband and myself brought our adult niece along on this trip and she loved the retro decor of the room. She wanted to bring the pink stove home! The rooms are well supplied and extremely clean, even for a fussy person like myself. The continental breakfast is a great addition, especially if you don't want to dress up and go out for breakfast. Good coffee/tea, a variety of bagels/muffins/cereal etc. and fresh fruit and juices, just enough to get you started for a day of sightseeing or just lounging on the beach or pool. All in all, value for price, this is a lovely property.

      Great Accomadations

      from

The rooms were incredible, very clean, the kitchen was really nice.

The manager is very friendly, she makes you feel at home and is always available.

I recommend it to everyone, either for a family trip or just for two.

      What a find!

      from

We recently booked a couple of rooms at Kira-Mar for a girlfriends' reunion and couldn't be more pleased with our stay at the waterfront villas. The owner and staff were extremely accomodating and left us to want for nothing during our stay. The rooms are very clean, fresh and welcoming, with comfortable furnishings making a day in from the sun (only when it is absolutely necessary) a relaxing one. Continental breakfast was great and saved us from trekking out in the morning, but our fav part of the place has definitely got to be the pool in the courtyard. Sprawled across a floating pool mat, with the sound of a flowing overflow waterfall in the background is the best way to end a vacation day in Ft Lauderdale. Rave reviews from the girls for Kira-Mar. A million thanks for such a wonderful stay! We will be back for sure!

      Great Time

      from

My daughter booked our stay. She thoroughly researches everything, so I expected everything to be satisfactory for my granddaughter's volleyball camp. Kira Mar is close enough to the Convention Center without that congested feeling. Even better than location, was the warmth and friendliness of everyone involved with our eleven -day stay. I enjoyed the clean lodging and continental breakfast. The pool and its surrounding were inviting when the weather permitted. I hope to come back again, real soon!

      Charming, Classic Florida-Style Lodging

      from

The Kira-Mar has a wonderful, quiet, cozy feel. Great landscaping around the pool area. The location is easy walking distance from the action of the beach or the shops on Las Olas. This type of classic florida-style lodging is disappearing all too rapidly, and being replaced with cookie-cutter chain hotels with hyper-inflated room rates.

There's lots of shaded seating by the pool, with Barbeques provided. There are docks on the canal behind the Kira-Mar, with slips available for short and long-term rental, if you're lucky enough to have a boat! ;-)

Clean, clean, clean. Boutique, without the cost. The web description did not and should have mentioned it is on a quiet off street from the popular Las Olas Blvd. Where fine food at good to expensive prices can be found. The kitchen at the appartment was stocked with all the right equipment (including filters for the coffee and steak knives). The owners have taken great pains to restore a "retro" motel, to keep the essence of retro while having updated amenities. Another item not mentioned in the ad/hotel description is the v.c.r. in the room, ceiling fans, sea breezes through the windows and a remote controlled a/c unit. To enhance ones down time there is an absence of clocks. The breakfast was continental. The Floridian restaurant is nearby and serves great eggs benedict. Also nearby is primo shopping, the beach, and museum. The pool is heated, there are three gas grills with tools, dockage is also available, and the foliage creates an oasis atmosphere. The neighbors in the other units also provide respect for other visitors with not becoming loud, but are still friendly. Peace filled serenity can be found at this location. We will definately return.

      Great Place, Location, Hospitality

      from

Stayed the weekend of the Air and Sea show, April 29th to May 2nd. Got a great rate from Hotels.com. There are 10 one bedroom apts, with a pool in the middle of the L shaped 2 story building. The pool area a lush and tropical, there is a table that seats 15 people for a breakfast they serve every morning till noon(complimentary). In addition it is locaterd on a canal, there are 8 boat slips.(More like yacht slips). It is approx 5 min walk to Las Olas Blvd, and a 15 minute walk to the beaches. A bike is necessary if you dont want to drive, but cabs are ALWAYS available as well. We had a great time...management was very accomodating and friendly.

... looked like I’d be a no show.

Around 5.30 there was still no sign of a break through on Spirit's maintenance problems so I bit the bullet and bought a $440 one way ticket to Miami on a Copa flight which was leaving at 7pm. Once that was confirmed I had one of the girls at the desk refund the cost of my Spirit flight. Assuming that was processed I'm out of pocket about $200, but as my room at the Riverside is costing me $198 a night (which as a no show I ...

Our bags had finally arrived, but we decided we would rather go up to watch "Last Vegas" than unpack. Finally back to the cabin to unpack at 12:30 AM, which was really 1:30 AM because we lost an hour around the Bahamas. After an hour ride in the fitness center it was off to ...

Pics of our drive through Palm Beach and along the esplanade. Very impressive. No RV parks to be seen anywhere, so we continued on to stay at Pompano Beach and took in Deerfield Beach also. We had a nice long walk on the Pier at Deerfield Beach, cost us $1 each. Then found a nice little bar with a fantastic view to while ...

... Scary! I met up with Clarise and Kate but decided to go home as I had work the next day. Thursday morning I went to work in at Harboridge Isle on M/Y Misunderstood 165'. It's a beautiful boat and awesome crew. The area is also crazy, definitely the rich and famous. I started on the bilges, the storage storage section under the boat.. So hot! Sweated for two days :) I organised all the containers and uniform section, whereafter I had to do an inventory. It was ...
