Day 52. New Hampshire Today we went to the Fryeburg Fair, the biggest fair in the state of Maine. It was great, very country, Andrew you would have loved it. Forestry was very much to the fore, with a Maine State Forest stand, old milling machines puffing away, competitions for wood chopping, saw logging, log rolling and log unstacking from trucks. Today met all our expectation of leaf peeping - excellent - green, brown, yellow, orange, red making a final statement before the chills of winter. Mileage: 116 ...

5th Week – 21-29 Sep

Sept 21 Today, some of us did something new: on the way to our next campground to which we caravanned in small groups, some of us did a "side trip" venue (an optional place of interest NOT included in the tour, but suggested as a possible extra stop along the way). This turned out to be a very beautiful place appropriately named Castle in the Clouds, the Lucknow country estate, home ...

Conway, NH - A Travel Destination?

... trip. We were surrounded by trees along the drive and I’ll grant you that the tress are just starting to turn, but there didn’t seem to be any more trees than any other NH trip we took.

When we got to Conway (population 10,000),we couldn’t figure out why a traveler would be in Conway. Maybe because It is the most populous NH city North of Laconia. Most likely is it is because it is located on the eastern edge ...
