Well, today was a bit of a tardy start, but we got moving eventually. First on the list was the Incline Railway. Wikipedia has this to say, which saves me getting it wrong; "The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is a 4 ft 8 1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) standard gauge[2] inclined plane railway located along the side of Lookout Mountain in the historic St. Elmo neighborhood of Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the United States. We arrived in Chattanooga crossed over to Georgia and gave up on the 127 yard sale. It was fun while it lasted but we are hot any tired and ready for a shower. A day discovering Chattanooga is obviously on the cards and with a forecasted 90f we had better take some water. We waked the city and the Walnut Street Bridge, which is now a pedestrian and bike bridge. It had some wonderful views of the city ...

Well, after weeks of careful planning, plotting, mapping and debating, the 6 week cross-country adventure has begun. What was just a dream a few months ago is finally a reality. I think we've all decided, however, that the first day of a vacation lasting this long is a write-off. The planning and details that go into making something like this happen are ENORMOUS, so I'm not sure we've realized yet that we are on....yes, its a vacation.....meaning ...
